John Lorenzo Myers died Wednesday, March 7, 1928, at his home in Tobacco township of Bright's disease. Mr. Myers was born Jan. 30, 1847 in Custer county, Ohio. He served 3 years and 3 months in the Civil war, enlisting June 3, 1862. He was discharged owing to sickness but re-enlisted at the expiration of the time and serving 3 months more. He was promoted from private to corporal in company A, 128 Ohio regiment. After the war he worked in the oil fields for about 6 years had a drug store at Cygnet, Custer county, Ohio. In 1899 he came to Gladwin county and located on a farm in Tobacco township. He has lived in Arkansas, Ohio and Michigan.
He was married Oct. 29, 1875 to Laura Beatty, Nine children were born to them, seven of whom, George, Myrtle, Byron, Lorenzo, Jr., May, Adam and one baby unnamed are deceased. Two daughters, Mrs. Helen Shaffer of Beaverton and Mrs. Leona Disel of Findley, Ohio, two grandchildren, Doris and Delos Disel and Mrs. Myers survive him. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias. The funeral was held at Dale, Saturday afternoon, March 10, at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. A. J. Preston. The pallbearers were: John Flock, Charles Tolles, William Richardson, Elmer Coolidge, Ira Brand and Henry Smith. Gladwin County Record dated 03-15/1928 Column - 3 Page - 4
