Ruth Underwood, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006. She is survived by her sons, James and Douglas Underwood; daughter, Hazel Underwood; step-daughter, Martha Jenkins and husband, Billy; brothers, Frank and Ralph Blankenship; sister, Ada Pratt and husband, Bob; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at First Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem with the Rev. Travis Oswald officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Roanoke.
