Pioneer lumberman of Eau Claire, WI. City of Owen, Clark County WI is named after him. Married twice, first wife Cora Mathilda Rust. They were married in 1872, she died in 1895. In 1899 he married Mrs. Josephine Betcher Shaw, widow of Congressman George B. Shaw.
Two sons from marriage to Cora, A.R., and Ralph W. One step-son George B. Shaw, Josephines' son.
