AMASA ROYCE, son of Philip and Beulah Royce,
b. June 15, 1793, Mansfield, Conn.; d. July 6, 1864, Roy.; m. Mar. 21, 1821, Sharon, Alice, dau. Reuben and Abigail (Davis)Spalding, b. Oct. 12, 1800, Sharon; d. Sep. 1, 1897, Roy. Mr.Royce first settled on the farm where Edmund Burke now lives,then rem. to Sharon, and in 1844 bought the farm where he and his son Horace died. He was a kind husband and father, and an obliging neighbor, a man of whom no ill word was spoken.

ii. Reuben Allen, b. Jan. 31, 1830, Roy.; d. Dec. 25, 1854,

iii. Alzina, b. Jan. 19, 1832, Barnard; m. Charles Kennedy
Labaree, who d. Apr. 15, 1906; one dau., Ada, b. July 4, 1857; m.Charles P. Davis of Webster, Mass.; two daughters, Alice, a teacher in Webster, and Beatrice, a junior in Tufts Coll.

iv. Horace, b. Jan. 30, 1834, Sharon; d. May 17, 1909, Roy.; unm. He lived with his parents, to whom he was a most devoted son.

V. Lucinda, b. Apr. 17, 1836, Sharon; m. Dec. 13, 1855, Ed-
gar, son Zerah and Pamelia (Fay) Watkins, b. Apr. 3, 1833, Reading; d. Oct. 1, 1905, S. Roy.; ch.: (a) Lelia Marcella, b. Nov. 16, 1856, Sharon; d. Mar. 22, 1859, Sharon; (b) Zerah Pearl, b. Mar. 4, 1860, Sharon; d. May 5, 1872, Sharon. Mr. Watkins was a wealthy farmer in Sharon. He had one of the finest farms in town, and his premises were evidences of the thrift and good taste of the owners. He also dealt in pure-blooded sheep, and always had a large and fine flock. He rem. to S. Roy. about 1900, and bought the Henry Doubleday house, where he died and his widow resides. Mrs. Watkins is remarkably active and interested in all the affairs of the day.
