Everett is the son of Bessie Lindsay. Bessie married William Curry in 1911 in Ontario, Canada when Everett was an infant. After a brief marriage they divorced and when his mother remarried Stewart Hockster, he took the name Hockster. Everett married Mary Sophie Ortell on 14 Dec 1935 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. They were married just under 50 happy years. Together they raised four children, Ralph, Shirley, Elizabeth and Paula.
