Andrew J. Florence, 73, 142 E. Middle St., died at his home this morning at 9 o'clock after being in declining health for some time.
The deceased was born in Emmitsburg (Maryland), a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Florence.
He is survived by his wife, the former Emma C. (Pettingill) (Dubbs) Florence.
He was a veteran of World War I and served in the Tank Corps. Florence was employed by the Victor Products Company for 20 years, and retired there in 1961.
He was a member of the Gettysburg Fire Company for 51 years, the State firemen's association, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, Gettysburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Hanover Home Association. He was a former president of the Veteran Firemen's Association.
Funeral arrangements are being made through the Bender Funeral Home and are incomplete.
