Hunter, Fisherman and Banker--George J Bradley was born in Columbia County, Wisconsin. Moved to Iowa in 1866 and to Norwood in 1881. Worked as warehouseman at the Milwaukee Depot where he learned telegraphy. Was Station Agent at Sacred Heart, Buffalo Lake, Renville and Chanhassen. Returned to Norwood in 1890 and in company with George Ocobock and Henry Fabel established the Norwood Mercantile Company. This business he continued until 1895 when he bought controlling interest in the Bank of Norwood from James Slocum, Jr. He served as cashier of that institution until relieved by Fred Kloth. He was Vice President of the bank until January 1, 1922 when he sold his interests to engage himself in his beloved sports--hunting and fishing.
