Earl Joy Dean, 80, of Liverpool, died on Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He had attended Syracuse University and CCBI and studied business management and accounting. He was a tank driver in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the first member of the American Legion in Albany. He retired from Carrier as a purchasing agent and supervisor and also worked for Fay Drug Stores. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alonzo "Bud" and Horace Dean, and three sisters, Marietta Littebrant, Edwina Bauer and Doris Vastag .
He is survived by two sisters, Bertha Davies and Shirley Frazier, both of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great- nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services are Tuesday at noon at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, with Rev. Lon Dean from the House of Praise Church officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling Hours: Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 3111 James St.
