LINCOLN - William E. Shockey, 86, of Lincoln died at 7:04 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 14, 1998) at his home. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian Church or Hospice of Central Illinois.
He was born April 9, 1912, in Elkhart, a son of John and Stella Coffey Shockey. He married Mabel Teichman on May 3, 1942, in El Paso, Texas. She survives. Also surviving are one brother, Cyrus Reyon Shockey, Iowa City, Iowa; and one sister, Amanda Bree, Fort Myers, Fla. Four nieces, one nephew, two great-nieces and three great-nephews also survive. His parents and two sisters, Leona and Irene, preceded him in death. Mr. Shockey retired in 1977 from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Peoria after 37 years of employment. He was an U.S. Army veteran of WW II and a member of American Legion Post 263 and the Lincoln Elks.
