Nicholas Brescia

Nicholas Brescia died at 3:45 o'clock this morning at his home, 112 Crawford Street, after a lingering illness. He was the city's humane officer until a few months ago when failing strength forced him to give up the position. He was a native of Viggiano, Italy, but came to the United States as a small boy with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Brescia. His father was leader of Brescia's band and orchestra, a well-known musical organization which flourished for many years. The deceased was also one the best known muscians in Norfolk and Portsmouth. He was a member of the American Citizens' Lodge, Sons of Italy, and the Loyal Order of Moose.

Mrs. Brescia is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Brescia, and two daughters, Mrs. James Ryan and Mrs. Leon Facenda; three brothers, Ralph, Joseph and Pascal, and a sister, Mrs. Rosa Resolute, all of Portsmouth.

Later announcement will be made of the funeral arrangements.
