George David Schultheiss, 60, 1008 Fox Ave., night supervisor at the Mosier Safe Co., died of complications early Sunday morning at Mercy Hospital. He had entered the hospital March 11.
Mr. Schultheiss had been associated with the Mosier Safe Co. for the last 47 years, having started with the company in June 1906. He had been serving in the capacity of night supervior for the last 10 years.
He was born in Hamilton July 6, 1893, the son of George and Barbara Hartlieb Schultheiss and had lived in the city his entire life. He was educated in the public schools of Hamilton.
Mr. Schultheiss was inducted into the Army, Oct 3, 1917, and sent to Camp Sherman, assigned to headquarters company of the 322nd Field Artillery. He saw action in numerous major battles, most prominent being the Meuse-Argonne offensive, Verdun sector, offensive west of Verdun, and the march to the Rhine. He also served with the Army occupational troops and returned to the states in May, 1919. He was discharged May 26, 1919.
Mr. Schultheiss married Lydia Finfrock in St. John Evangelical Church Nov 10, 1923, and was a lifelong member of the church.
He was affiliated with the 322nd Field Artillery Association, Durwin-Schantz Post 138, American Legion, and Mosler Supervisors Club.
Besides the widow, Lydia Schultheiss, he leaves four sons, David Schultheiss, Paul Schultheiss, Asa Van Liew and Harold Van Lieu, all of Hamilton; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ingram, Homestead, Fla.; two brothers, Fred Schultheiss and August Schultheiss, both of Hamilton; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Schneider, Hamilton; six grandchildren.
A daughter, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from the Micheal J. Colligan Funeral Home, 437 S. Third St,. Thursday, at 2pm, with the Rev. R.C. Whisenhunt, pastor of the St. John Evangelical Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4pm Wednesday.
Members of the 322nd Field Artillery Association are asked to meet at the funeral home a 8pm Wednesday for military service. Durwin-Shantz Post 138, American Legion, will hold military service at the cemetery Thursday.
