John P. Q. Adams, 91, of Sidney, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at his residence. He was born on Oct. 15, 1918, in Miami County, to the late Gilbert D. and Stella (Colbert) Adams.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Shontz) Adams on April 3, 1974; and brothers and sisters, Ivor Adams, Mildred Miller, Mabel Wackler, Pearl Rehmert, Thelma Long, Gilbert T. Adams and Franklin Adams.

Other survivors include his wife, Ruth I. (Flath) Johnston Adams of Sidney, stepchildren, Rita (Darrel) Hollenbacher of Troy, and Roger (Carole) Johnston of Sidney; a sister, Frances Smith of Troy; five step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5436, Troy, American Legion Post 217, Sidney, and the Sidney Senior Citizens.

Mr. Adams worked at Frigidaire before working for Troy Sunshade, where he retired in 1981.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with private interment in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Legion in Sidney, and Sidney Senior Citizens.
