Linda, I found the disability certificate for James R. Adamson and have added to his memorial. The certificate shows he was born in Henry County & that he was discharged on 22 May 1862 at Camp McIntosh near Goldsboro, NC. There were no CMSR for him after this date. I further checked the interment records used in 1876 for the relocation of soldier burials & the 1907 headstone list for the graves at Camp Chase. This man is not listed at Camp Chase. I am working with the SCV Camp in Columbus Ohio who had done extensive research and they were unable to find a headstone for this person. I do not believe that he is buried at Camp Chase. Just wanted to let you know.I knew you would want to know as I see you do a lot of research. Best regards, Elizabeth Dean

Linda, I have tried to find additional info. I did find a record for a James R. Adamson who died & is buried at Camp Chase in grave #1556 but his headstone is recorded as James B. Adams. This James B. Adams is buried at Oak Woods Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. At first I thought it might be your James Rufus Adamson but the death date and birth place was different. There was no age indicated for the James R. Adamson on his CMSR (compiled military service record). If these men are the same, please let me know.
Thank you for the link, but I do not go by these submitted records as I find to many mistakes. However, when sources are indicated this is helpful. There are a lot of mistakes that took place in 1876 during reinterrment at Camp Chase and there are even Union soldiers who died at the Camp Chase hospital and are buried as Confederates. I am working with SCV Camp of Columbus, OH to find and correct these mistakes.
