JOSIE MAE LESTER, 95, of Chesapeake, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Young officiating. Private burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens at a later date. Josie was born February 12, 1914, in South Point, Ohio, a daughter of the late Sara Kingery and Gratney Mayse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel R. Lester; one daughter, Teresa Harris; three sisters, Blanche Clay, Myrtle Ems and Margaret Smith; and three brothers, Charles, Wayne and John Mayse. Josie is survived by two daughters, Dorothy "Dottie" Maynard and Edna J. Clay; two sons-in-law, Stephen Clay and David Harris; three grandchildren, Stephen Clay Jr., Michael Clay and April (Shane) Shields; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Amanda, Avery, Bradley and Connor Clay and two nephews, Charles M. Mayse and Charles R. Mayse. She will be missed by all. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home, Chesapeake.
