Abraham Lincoln Raulston was born March 4, 1861 in Marion County, Tennessee, the eighth of eleven children born to John Simmons Raulston and Mary Wynne. In the 1880 Census of South Pittsburg, Marion County, Tennessee, Abraham is in the company of a couple of his older cousins; they were all working as laborers.

On November 11, 1886 in Marion County, Abraham married Martha Caroline Gilliam. They resided in Marion County where their ten children would be born. They were enumerated there in the 1900 census. Seven children had been born; one had died. The census taker was Joe L. Raulston; Abraham's first cousin once removed. The couple's last child was born on May 27, 1905. Three months later on August 12, 1905, Abraham's wife Martha died at the age of 37.

About 1906, Abraham married Ester "Hettie" Elizabeth Ketner. No children are known from this union.

Abraham moved the family to Butler County, Missouri. He died in Poplar Bluff Township, Butler County, Missouri on September 24, 1934 at the age of 73 and was buried in the Marble Hill Cemetery, Butler County, Missouri. He was survived by nine of his ten children.
