Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elkhart Christian Church, of which he was a member, with burial at White Oak Cemetery in White Oak.
Mr. Kendig, a retired farmer, was born in Greencastle and had lived in Elkhart since 1973 until moving to Polk City Manor six months ago.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Janet Broders of Barrington, Ill., and Karolyn Jones of St. Louis; a brother, Cecil of Mount Ayr; a sister, Vilda Corey of Adel; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on the family from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ankeny Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
