Halifax, died April 30, 1995, in Camp Hill Medical Centre. Born in Truro, Colchester Co., he was the youngest son of the late Hon. Frank and Emma (Thomas) Stanfield. Educated in Truro, Ashbury and Dalhousie University, he graduated in engineering from McGill in 1939. Other interests were the Canadian Arthritis Board and the Victoria General Hospital Board for shorter terms. As part warden of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, he served in many Anglican Church of Canada activities, including the property committees of the University of King's College and the Atlantic School of Theology. He golfed actively wherever he lived and equally enjoyed gardening prize roses. He was a member of RNSYS and the Halifax Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine Stairs; sister, Kathryn S. Davies, Victoria, B.C.; brother, Rt. Hon. Robert Lorne Stanfield, Ottawa; sons, Gordon S., Dartmouth, David W., Halifax; daughters, Nancy K., Margaret A., Calgary; five grandsons.
