Regis W. Ball, 85, Altoona, passed from this life Monday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Walter and Viola (Sweeney) Ball. He married the former Mary W. Graupensperger.

Surviving are a son, Daniel (Carol) of Roaring Spring; a daughter, Kathleen Farrell (Gregory) of Annondale, Va.; and three grandchildren: Ryan, Adam and Meghan.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Mary, Dec. 25, 2009, with whom he had shared 61 years of marriage; a son, Gary; an infant brother, Howard; a brother, Walter Jr.; and Regis' twin brother, Robert.

Regis was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1942-46 and earning the Purple Heart. He retired in 1989 from Crane Co., Duncansville, after 30 years of service. He then worked for Conrail for several years.

Regis was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church since 1956, where he was an usher. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, and he played softball for 30 years in local Altoona leagues.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Altoona, officiated by Father David R. Rizzo. Committal with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
