LARNED — Delbert Lee Adams, 86, died Jan. 30. He was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Cass County, Mo., to John Delbert and Elva Maude Brooks Adams. A longtime resident of Larned, he was a retired painting contractor and decorator.
Mr. Adams belonged to Grace Lutheran Church, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7271 and was past commander of both posts, all of Larned, and member of Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Oct. 14, 1950, he married Eleanor M. Smith at Radium.
Survivors include one son, Allan D. Adams, Oxford, Iowa; two daughters, Linda Fox and Joyce Bettes, both of Larned; three brothers, Ellis "Short" Adams, Harrisonville, Mo., and Elton Adams and Elvin Loy Adams, both of Freeman, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Shipley, Harrisonville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lou Adams and Virginia May Atkinson, and three grandchildren, Joseph Lyn Adams, Jeremy Shane Adams and Lisa Marie Adams.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Larned, with Pastor Richard Langness presiding. Friends may sign a register book from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Morell Funeral Home, Larned. Cremation took place. Inurnment will be in the Larned Cemetery.
