Ruby Hutcherson Lemons was born in Julia, Wilbarger Co. Tx (no longer exists). She attended Fluvanna and Snyder Schools until High school graduation. She attended Wayland Baptist College in Plainview, Tx and then went on to Baylor University with her husband, Virgil Lemons. She taught music and vocal and Gatesville School for Boys 1928-1933.
Ruby was an artist in painting, sewing, ceramics, needlepoint and other crafts. She was mother of two boys, Carl (Sonny) and Warren. She served the church with her pastor husband in Kress, Tx, Sunnyside, Tx, Hart Tx, Biloxi MS, Amarillo Tx and Wichita Falls, Tx until 1952 when she moved to Plainview after her husband's death. She devoted her life to her invalid son, Sonny, until her death.
