SHENANDOAH, Iowa Verda Mae (Younger) Larabee, 86, Shenandoah, formerly of Elmo, Mo., died Monday, April 26, at a health-care center in Shenandoah.
Mrs. Larabee had been employed by the Sno-White Laundry for several years and in the linen department of the Hand Community Hospital, both in Shenandoah, for more than 25 years.
Born in Elmo on Oct. 4, 1912, she had lived on a farm near Elmo. She attended school through her sophomore year at the Elmo high school and in her early years had been a housekeeper.
Mrs. Larabee was a member of the Methodist Church in Elmo and First Christian Church of Shenandoah.
On Aug. 21, 1929, she married Harold E. Larabee in Clarinda, Iowa. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Larabee was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd A. and Virgil Mae Younger; four brothers, James, Charles, Raymond and Glen Younger; and a sister, Eva Merriott.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Darlene Kemper, Hamburg, Iowa, and Margaret Hein, Essex, Iowa; a sister, Ida M. Younger, Carthage, N.C.; a brother, Richard R. Younger, Carthage; five grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, First Christian Church, Shenandoah. Burial: Union Grove Cemetery, near Northboro, Iowa. Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home, Shenandoah.
