She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, and when quite young came here with her parents from Ohio, where they had moved from New York. The family settled on a farm near Millport, and it was from there Mrs. Cunningham was married Sept. 29, 1868.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham made their home on the farm near Fabius, where Mrs. Cunningham died, and where they lived until a few years before the death of Mr. Cunningham, which was in Ft. Madison, where they had gone upon leaving the farm. Since the death of her husband Mrs. Cunningham has lived with her children.
