"Forrest J. Shaulis, 69, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, June 22, at Holy Family Hospital, Spokane, of cancer.
He was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Orange Township, son of Josiah and Berth M. Harbough Shaulis. He married Beverly Gallagher in 1962 in Waterloo.
Mr. Shaulis had been employed as a claims agent with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 32 years, retiring in 1985 as a claims supervisor. He served with the U.S. Army in the Tank Corps during World War II in the African Campaign. From 1972 to 1980, he was a Black Hawk County magistrate.
Survivors include his wife of 10435 Iroquois Drive, Spokane, 99208; two sons, Gary L. Clements of Waterloo and Mark C. Oldenburg of Vancouver, Wash.; five daughters, Sandra Snook of Olympia, Wash., Susan J. Clark of Vancouver, Marilyn D. Russell of Lynnwood, Wash., Barbara L. Bedford of California City, Calif., and Amy A. New of Plano, Texas; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Thelma Morganson of White Bear Lake, Minn.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home-North, with burial in Fairmount Memorial Park, both in Spokane."
