Mr. Brown enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 and served in WWII. During his service he was stationed in the Marshal Islands. After being honorably discharged he met and married Eileen Pike on January 26, 1947 in San Bernardino, CA.
Les was a J.C. Penney manager for 17 years in several different stores in three different states. Les and Eileen moved to Grand Junction in 1964 and opened a men's clothing store on Main Street called Squire's Men's Shop. The store was closed in 1985 after 21 years of service.
Les was a Real Estate agent in Grand Junction for the next 18 years. Les was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Western Colorado Shrine Club. He loved to write poetry and he wrote four different books over the years. He loved to tell stories about his life and family, so one day we asked him to write a book about his life. When he wrote the book he included every member of his family.
We will have fond memories of him for years to come. He loved to golf, and on his 83rd birthday we took him golfing, with his oxygen tank in tow and he still beat us.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Juanita Reagan, Willie Olson, and Sue McMillan. Les is survived by his wife, Eileen Brown; sister, Zelma Lewis of Riverside, CA; son, Bill (Barb) Brown of Tombstone, AZ; daughter, Patty (Dewey) Tanner of Delta, CO; four grandchildren, Clint (Anna) Brown, Kati (Brian) Haynes, Cheryl McCallister and Aaron McCallister; five step grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
