Francis G. Bowman, 90, Davenport, Iowa, died Sept. 28, 2007, at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport, Iowa. Born April 30, 1917 in Bureau County, Ill., Bowman was a graduate from St. Charles High School, St. Mary. He was employed by Kraft Foods Co. in 1937 in the engineering department in Toulon, Ill. He later worked as a construction carpenter in Toulon, Galva, and the Quad Cities area. Bowman later worked at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. as the master mechanic where he retired. Voluntary work included the boy scouts and the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph V. and Rose Bowman; his wife, Mary E. Moffitt (Feb. 24, 2005); and a sister, Gladys Bowman Costello. Survivors include: two sons, Philip Bowman of Moline, Ill. and Michael Bowman of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two granddaughters, Catherine Stewart of Hixson, Tenn. and Jacqueline McGinnis of Sterling, Ill.; and two great-grandchildren, Gabriel McGinnis and Theresa McGinnis. Services were held Oct. 3 at First Baptist Church, Moline, Ill. with burial in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline, Ill. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, Ill., was in charge of the arrangements.
