Alma was born December 24, 1927 in the Town of Genoa, Cayuga County, New York. She graduated in 1945 from Emily Howland Central School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Oscar and Gertrude Joanne Streeter Peckham; and her sister; Eleanor Marie Peckham Marks, of Poplar Ridge, Cayuga County, New York. Alma is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Joseph George Rice; 7 daughters - Marianne (Donald ) Crossman, of Willcox, AZ, Debra (Thomas) Capple, Karen Tapia, of Tucson, AZ, Jeannie (Frank) Huffman, of Ocala, FL, Sandra (Floyd) Borquez, Pamela (Don) Reid,of Tucson, AZ, Lisa (Mithkal) Smadi of Round Rock, Texas, 1 son, Joseph George Rice, II of Tucson, AZ; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren with twins due in January 2002; and 6 nieces and 2 nephews.
Alma started working for the Federal Government in 1945, retiring from AMARC DMAFB, Tucson, AZ in 1986.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at 1:00 p.m., both to be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. The Reverend Louis W. Johnson, of Tucson Baptist Temple will officiate.
Entombment will follow at East Lawn Palms Cemetery.
Alma's many friends are invited to a Celebration of Her Life following the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Tucson Baptist Temple, 1525 S. Columbus Blvd.
Donations may be made in Alma's name to Casa de la Luz Hospice, 6812 N. Oracle Rd., Ste 144, Tucson, AZ.
