Leonard Lee Harsin, Sr., 75, of Bayard, NE died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Fort Meade, South Dakota. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Calvin Prouty officiating. Interment will be in the Veteran's Circle of the Bayard Cemetery with the U. S. Air Force providing military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home between 1:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday. The Leonard L. Harsin, Sr. Memorial Fund has been established.
Leonard was born July 16, 1934 in Bartlett, NE to Delbert and Lynetta (Robinson) Harsin. He grew up in Bartlett and moved to Angora and Alliance. He entered the U. S. Air Force March 18, 1953 and was honorably discharged March 17, 1957. He married Leonda Guthrie whom he later divorced and married Patricia Krueger. They lived in Alliance where Leonard drove truck and hauled hay. They moved to Bayard in the late 1980's
Leonard loved to tinker with old cars.
He is survived by his sons: Tim Wilkin, Aurora, NE, Leonard Harsin, JR. and fiancé Sharon of Bayard, NE, Delbert Harsin, Grand Island, NE, Leon Harsin, Bridgeport, NE and Patrick Harsin of Tecumseh, NE.; daughters Lynetta Hernandez, Cheyenne, WY and Laurie Banks, White Sulfur Springs, MT, step daughter: Kim (Gary) Hemphill, Scottsbluff, NE; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
