Mildred Elaine Lohness, 84, Topeka, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Lohness had worked for Peacock Laundry, Country Inn and Ohse Meats before she retired.

She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Texas County, Mo., the daughter of Elmer and Ettress Medlock Zirschky. She graduated from high school in Council Grove in 1937 and lived most of her life in Topeka.

She married Theron Lohness on Aug. 11, 1937, in Council Grove. He died Oct. 12, 1974. Mrs. Lohness also was preceded in death by two sons, Arthur Lee Lohness and Larry Allen Lohness.

Survivors include a son, Harley Ray Lohness, Topeka; three sisters, Florence Moore, Carbondale, Lee Scribner, West Brookfield, Mass., and Devonia Cazier, Alta Loma, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Lohness was cremated. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery.
