Richard "Dick" Doverspike, 68, of Fairmount City, died Saturday morning, March 25, 2006, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1937, in Oak Ridge, Armstrong County, he was the son of Charles E. Doverspike and Zelma "Dolly" Thomas Doverspike.

Mr. Doverspike was a U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of New Bethlehem Masonic Lodge No. 522, the Coudersport Consistory, the Hawthorn Lions Club, the Hawthorn Rod and Gun Club, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, a life member of the NRA and a member of the Federation of Sportsmen.

Mr. Doverspike was married June 13, 1959, to Mary E. Gruver, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Pamela Jo Shick and husband, Wendell, of Fairmount City; two sons, Andy L. Doverspike and wife, Patricia M., of Emlenton, and Donald A. Doverspike and wife, Rebecca J., of Fairmount City; five grandchildren, Thomas Shick, Timothy Shick, Alicia Doverspike, Seth Doverspike and Coleman Doverspike; and a brother-in-law, Larry Crawford of New Bethlehem.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Doverspike was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Crawford.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Rupert Funeral Home with the Rev. John Phillips, pastor of First Church of God, New Bethlehem, officiating.
