ROCKDALE — Services for Dale Eugene Bandy, 81, of Rockdale will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale during church services with the Rev. Rebecca Nuelle officiating.

Mr. Bandy died Friday, Jan. 29, at his home.

He was born on April 2, 1928, to Ernest and Sarah Davis Bandy in Oklahoma City, Okla. He grew up in Oshkosh, Neb. He received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Nebraska. On Feb. 14, 1982, he married Sara Jane Yarbrough in Navasota. He worked as a chemical engineer for ARCO Pipeline for 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne, 1946-1947. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by a son, Daryl W. Bandy.

Survivors include his wife of Rockdale; a son, Dale E. "Skip" Bandy Jr. of Georgetown; a daughter, Stephanie Bandy Laughinghouse of Hondo; a sister, Elwanda Wentz of Casper, Wyo.; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Bandy died Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at his home near Rockdale.

He was born April 2, 1928, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ernest "Duke" and Sarah Davis Bandy. He was raised in Oshkosh, Nebraska.

He married on Feb. 14, 1982, in Navasota.

Mr. Bandy received his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Nebraska.

He was a U.S. Army Airborne veteran, serving from March 1946 to September 1947.

Mr. Bandy worked as a chemical engineer for Arco Pipeline for 35 years.

Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Rockdale.

Mr. Bandy enjoyed raising and racing greyhounds, building and tinkering with things, fishing and gardening. He was also an avid golfer.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale, Rockdale Country Club, Texas Greyhound Association and Shriners of North America.

Mr. Bandy was also a 25-year member of the Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Bandy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ellen Baptist; and a brother, Daryl W. Bandy.

Survivors are his wife, a son, a daughter, a sister, two grandchildren, and in-laws also, numerous nieces and nephews.
