Mrs. Amanda Reed Persons, wife of Edmund P. Persons of Marengo and highly respected resident of this section for the last fourty years, died Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. T. Walker in Rockford from a complication of ailments growing out of influenza. She has been ill for five weeks.
Deceased was born in Trenton, N. J. seventy-two years ago, and came to Marengo to make her home shortly after her marriage in 1870. Besides her husband she is survived by a son and five daughters, all of whom reside in this vicinity.
Funeral services were held Monday at 3 o'clock p.m. at the First Baptist church in Marengo, the Rev. Mr. Stevens of Rochelle officiating. Interment was in the Marengo cemetery. [Published in the "Republicah-Northwestern," Belvidere, illinois, Friday, February 20th, 1920, MDP, Page 5.]
