George M. Addison, Jr. age 93 of St. Augustine died Oct.14, 2004 at Flagler Hospital. He was born in Baltimore, Md., and had resided here since 1947. He was a member of the Cathedral-Basilica Parish and the Knights of Columbus # 611 He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served on a sea going tug "The Mankato" at the beginning of the war. Then as a chief quarter master on YMS 389, minesweeper. In December 1944 he was commissioned Ensign and was assigned as executive officer on the LSM (R) #198, and in Spring 1945 received a battlefield commission to a Lt. JG at Okinawa in the Pacific theatre. After World War II, he signed on with the civilian merchant marine as 1st Mate and sailed until the late 1960's. He worked for Fairchild Industries and ITT at Palm Coast where he operated the tour boat. He became a National Park Ranger and retired from Ft. Matanzas in 1995.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral-Basilica of St Augustine, Rev. Father Gerald Hynes, officiating. Burial in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday 5-8 p.m. at Craig Funeral Home.
Preceded in death by: his wife of 65 years Ora Addison.

He is survivor by one daughter, Georgeanna Teehan, Elkton, Fla.; three grandchildren, Daniel Apel, Jr., St Augustine, LTC Timothy Apel, Itlay and Andrew Apel, Elkton; six great-grandchildren.
