Obituary: October 1975

Mrs. Opal Mildred Ann Bowlin, 80, of 317 W. 4th St., Eldon, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1975 at Memorial Community Hospital in Jefferson City. Mrs. Bowlin had lived in the Eldon area all of her life.

She was born March 3, 1895, at Tuscumbia to Marvin E and Lena Harrison Slote. Mrs. Slote survives her daughter.

On June 2, 1915, she was married to P. B. Bowlin, who also survives. Mrs. Bowlin was a member of the Eldon First Baptist Church and the Barnett Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

In addition to her husband and mother Mrs. Bowlin leaves two sons, Rons Bowlin of Phoenix, Ariz., and Paul Bowden, Jr. of Saudia Arabia; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Whyte, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Evelyn Williams, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Sarah Henderson, Clifton Hill; five sisters, Mrs. Florence Waddell, Eldon, Mrs. Crystal Richardson, McCleary, Wash., Mrs. Lee Burks, Brumley, Mrs. Leona Swofford, Kansas City, and Mrs Hildred Connell, Jefferson City; two brothers, Alfred Slote, Olean, and Charles Slote, Eldon; and 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were Selden Clay Bowlin who died during World War 11 and Benjamin Franklin Bowlin in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Church. The Rev. Don Wainwright and the Rev. R. C. Reichert officiated. Burial was in the Eldon Cemetery under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
