The family later relocated to Livingston, where Noah Criger was employed at the shops of the Northern Pacific Railroad. Robert attended Livingston public schools with his brothers and sisters. At the age of 16 he quit school and went to work at the local sawmills, doing mostly work many others wouldn't do because it was too dangerous or dirty. Robert was a hard worker and supported his mother, whom he lived with until her death in 1956. he continued living and working in the Livingston area until the early to mid-1970's, when he moved to Oregon. He loved the beaches of the Oregon coast and spent time there when he could.
He will be remembered as a generous, caring, kind-hearted man. Some nieces and nephews who spent time with him as children recall he liked taking them to movies, and that he made wonderful root beer.
He is survived by nephews and nieces, and their children, some of whom still reside in the Livingston area.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Noah Criger, and all of his brothers and sisters.
Cremation has taken place. A family memorial is planned for a later date.
