Excerpts from her obituary printed in The Carnegie Herald Wed Aug 1 1951 note that she was born near Peoria, Illinois, moved to Missouri as an infant, and later to Kansas. Her husband, George Barney, drew a farm in the New Country on July 29 1901. He built a shack, plowed some ground and went back to Wichita to marry Mary. In 1920 they moved into Carnegie. Mary was in Oklahoma City visiting her daughters when she died.
