ARLIE L. HAUPT
(1933 - 2010)

Arlie L. Haupt, 76, town of Mosel resident, died peacefully at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family on Feb. 5, 2010.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1933, in Manitowoc, the son of the late Myron and Hertha Glaeser Haupt. Arlie attended First German Grade School, Manitowoc, and Manitowoc Lincoln High School, graduating in 1952. On Oct. 2, 1954, he was united in marriage to Marlene A. Konik at St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland by the Rev. Eldon Bode. The couple spent their entire married life residing outside of Cleveland. Marlene preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2008, after 53 years of marriage.

For 43 years, he was a mason at Kohler Co. He took great pride in being a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club. Arlie was a devoted member of St. John and St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cleveland. For 30 years, he served as a teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school. He also served as president and secretary of the church. He served as secretary of the Saxon Cemetery. Arlie inherited his father's strong faith and sense of serving others. Arlie was an avid whitetail deer hunter of 53 years in Cayuga, Wis. For the last 20 years, he enjoyed spending time at his eldest son Tom's cabin, viewing wildlife and riding his four-wheeler. He liked to fish, especially his time on Lake Michigan. Arlie was outgoing and social. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially loved going to Men of Harmony concerts with Marlene. He was an avid Packer fan and proud shareholder. He proudly sang the "Haupt Song" at family events and gatherings. After he retired, his passion for woodworking grew, and he beautified many yards and fences with his carved birds and other creations. He and Marlene traveled around the country.
