E.J. "Uncle Tobe" Caudle, 91 of Boonville, Route 1, one of the oldest and respected citizens of Yadkin County, died at Lula Conrad Hoots Memorial Hospital tuesday morning at 1:30, after a lingering illness of several months, serious only a few days. He was born in the Mt. Nebo section of Yadkin, and has spent his life in that section were he was a good neighbor to everyone.
He was a member of the Mt. Nebo Church of Christ.
Mr. Caudle was a Justice of the Peace for 40 years in the Fall Creek township of Yadkin County. He taught singing schools in the churchs in the Fall Creek community.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Rachel Nelson Caudle, a son Alvin Caudle and a daughter Vestal Caudle Steelman both of Boonville, Rt.1.
The funeral was held at Union Baptist Church at 2 P.M. yesterday with burial in the cemetery.
