Richard M. "Cheesecake" Batista, 50, formerly of Canonsburg, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007 in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1956, in Canonsburg, a son of Richard E. Batista of Canonsburg and Beverly J. Pushkar Batista of Tucson, Ariz.
He graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1975 and was employed as a meat cutter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of First United Methodist of Canonsburg, SNPJ Lodge 138 of Strabane and Canonsburg Sportsmen Club.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, David F. Batista of Los Gatos, Calif., and Mark D. Batista of Canonsburg; and a daughter, Jennafer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 E. College St., Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, where services will be held at a time to be announced Monday, Feb. 12. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
