Laura Jane, daughter of Joshua and Mary E. Bell, was born at Mark, Iowa, December 11, 1863. Departed this life at a hospital in Kirksville, Mo., March 13, 1939, aged 75 years, 3 months and 13 days.
Che was united in marriage with Joseph F. Sidwell, at Stiles, Iowa, Nov. 17, 1887. The following January 1888, they moved to Schuyler county, Mo., and located on what was known as the Higbee farm two miles northwest of Queen City. It was here their three children were born, who with their father survive.
The children are Vernon and Irvin Sidwell and Mrs. Ruth Kelley, all of Queen City. She is also survived by 7 grand children. She was the youngest of her family and the last to go.
She united in early girlhood with the Mount Mariah, Iowa Presbyterian church, and never transferred her membership to any other church.
In 1923 they purchased property in Queen City and moved to town where they have since made their home. One year ago last November they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Sidwell was a kind and loving wife and mother, a true friend and neighbor. She numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services were held in Queen City Christian church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Perley M. Lind pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Queen City cemetery.
