MORNING STAR - 10 March 1892:
***************************
Mrs. Lydia Gowen died at Saco on January
25, 1892.
She experienced religion at the age of 16
and united with the Baptist Church of which her father was Deacon.
She married Obadiah Durgin and lived with him in the most happy domestic felicity through all these years.
Having charge of a class of boys in the Sunday school some twenty-five years, there are men now in middle life who can witness to her benign influence of instruction, example, and devotion upon their lives.
For years she was a faithful visitor in the Provident Association, looking after the welfare of the poor and providing for their necessities. She was quiet, unostentatious, and sympathetic in her personal benefactions and many a subject of want will miss her.
