Immigrated to the United States 5 June 1897 through Ellis Island aboard the ship called "Columbia" He became a naturalized citizen 27 April 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri. Proud of being a United States citizen his children reported he only allowed English to be spoken in their home. Though he didn't become a man of means he was glad he came to the United States; to have a family and rear them here. Though he never used his given name here, his given name was Wilhelm.
