MRS. J. R. MARTIN, 79, DIES NEAR ST. JOSEPH - MRS. ALICE OPHELIA MARTIN, 79, wife of J. R. Martin, died at 5:30 p.m. last Friday at her home in the St. Joseph section after several weeks illness. Mrs. Martin, a daughter of Mark and Elizabeth Hughes Thompson, was born and reared in Marion County and most of her life was spent here. Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Thompson, Raywick; three brothers, Eugene Thompson, Humble, Texas; Xavier Thompson, Louisville; and Pink Thompson, Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Riney, Louisville, and Mrs. Fayette Reynolds, Marion County; 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Monday when funeral services were conducted at St. Joseph Church by the Rev. Louis Mattus. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard, Howard, Conrad and Coleman Thompson, Oldren and Bernard Reynolds.
