J. R. MARTIN, 85, DIES OF INJURIES RECEIVED IN FALL - Injuries suffered in a fall at an August 9 church picnic at St. Mary proved fatal at 5:40 a.m. last Monday to Joseph R. (Jodie) Martin, 85 year old farmer of the St. Joseph section. He died at Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he was admitted soon after the accident. He never regained consciousness. Mr. Martin, a native of the St. Joseph community, was a son of the late Frank and Jane Mills Martin. His wife is deceased. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Louis J. Thompson, who has made her home with her father; a sister, Mrs. Oswald Thompson, and brother, Frank Martin, both of Raywick; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home until 9 a.m. last Wednesday when funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Louis Mattus at St. Joseph Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard, Howard, Conrad and Coleman Thompson, Bernard and Oldren Reynolds.
