MATTINGLY - Wilford Lonnie Sr., 87, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was born August 27, 1921, to the late Wilf and Mary Lou (Able) Mattingly in Louisville, where he resided most of his life. He was a longtime employee of Bluegrass Cooperage in Louisville and a member of Shawnee Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae (Florence) Mattingly in January of 2008. Survivors include sons, Pastor Lonnie Mattingly (Nancy) New Albany, IN, John G. Mattingly (Sophie), Louisville; grandchildren, Melissa, Sheri, Debbie, Jonathan, John E. and Carrie; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Friday at Kraft Funeral Service, 2776 Charlestown Rd., New Albany, IN, and after 10 a.m. Saturday at Shawnee Baptist Church, 2214 Bank St., Louisville, KY. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawnee Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville with military honors. Expressions of sympathy may be made to: Hosparus Hospice of Southern Indiana, Shawnee Baptist Church or Harvest Baptist Church, both in Louisville.
