MRS. MARY J. DAILY DIED AGED 74 YEARS

Mrs. Mary J. Daily, a resident of Centerville and Appanoose county for the past forty-five years and an Iowa woman by birth, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. S. Shanks at 612 S. 12th street at 4:20 Monday afternoon. She had been very ill with Bright's disease for the past six weeks and her advanced age made her unable to withstand its ravages. She was 74 years, 2 months and 18 days of age. Complete funeral arrangements have not yet been made but will be announced later.
Mary Jane Clinkenbeard was born in Birmingham, Iowa, on May 26, 1843. While still young she was married to John Daily at Exline and for a period of nearly twenty-five years resided on a farm between that town and Cincinnati. Later the family moved to Centerville and this city has been Mrs. Daily's residence ever since.
Mrs. Daily was the mother of ten children; six of whom have preceded her in death. Her husband, too has gone before her, passing away sixteen years ago. The four surviving children are Mrs. Alfaretta Shanks of Centerville, Mrs. Fanny M. Norton of Sioux City, Mrs. Anna I. Appel of Gillette, Wyo., and Chas. A. Daily, of Spokane, Wash.
The many friends of Mrs. Daily in this vicinity always knew her as a good Christian woman and a kind neighbor and friend. She went to be with her daughter about the latter part of June and since that time she suffered a great deal with her illness and its consequent pains. She was always patient and cheerful, however, never grumbling or complaining over her lot. For the past few days she had grown steadily worse and her death Monday afternoon came to relieve her of all her suffering. During her illness she was the victim of three light strokes of paralysis as well.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, pending the arrival of word from relatives at a distance. The time and the place of services will be given out later. The surviving members of the family have the sincere sympathy of all their many friends in their loss.
