Rev. Marvin O. Bridges was born Jan. 30, 1907 in Austinville, Morgan County, Alabama. He married Berta Estelle Wood on 25 April 1924. They were the parents of three children: Jewel, Pruitt and Hollis.

Marvin was licensed to preach on April 20, 1939 at Forrest Chapel in Morgan County. His work at Snead College and Emory University added to his burning desire for truth. His sermons were logical and scriptural. He lived in and preached the Grace of Jesus Christ.

He served as pastor of churches in Decatur and Tuscaloosa Districts for thirty seven years. He preached at Salem Circuit in 1940, Bethel Campground Circuit 1940-42, Mount Vernon 1943-47, Gordo Circuit 1948-49, Tuscaloosa Southside 1950-54, Mount Vernon 1955. He conducted revivals at many other churches during his active ministry. He retired in 1955 due to ill health. However as his health permitted, he conducted revivals and supplied where needed until his death Jan. 7, 1976.
