Ellen Keating was born and grew up in Curravough, Parish of Tralee, County of Kerry, Ireland. Her parents were Michael Keating and Johanna Sullivan.
Ellen immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri, as a young adult, joining her brothers and cousins from Curravough who were already living there. She died in St. Louis of typhoid fever at age 25.
