After the war, the family moved to Macomb County in Michigan. About 1872, the family moved once again settling in Crawford's Quarry of Presque Isle County.
On 16 Aug 1872, Sophia was united in marriage with William Hagen. This was the first marriage recorded in the Presque Isle County Clerk's Office in Rogers City by the Justice of the Peace Meridith.
To this union were born five children:
...J.W. Hagen, 25 Aug 1874-14 Aug 1876, (Lived: 1 Year, 11 Months, 20 Days)
...William Christian Friedrich Hagen, 25 Aug 1875-17 Aug 1876 (Lived: 0 Years, 11 Months, 23 Days)
...Maria Wilhelmina Amelia Hagen, 10 Aug 1876-09 Sep 1878 (Lived: 2 Years, 0 Months, 30 Days)
...Amanda Hagen, 03 Jun 1878-31 Aug 1878 (Lived: 0 Years, 2 Months, 28 Days) and
...George Hagen, 29 Jan 1880-29 Nov 1881 (Lived: 1 Year, 10 Months, 0 Days)
In the 1880 census for Crawford's Quarry, only son George was still living.
Less than four months after son George had passed away, Sophia herself passed away at home in Crawford's Quarry from complications of tuberculosis.
Her funeral service was conducted by Pastor Joel D. Druckenmiller.
She was originally buried next to her five children in the cemetery at Crawford's Quarry. This cemetery was later eliminated when the entire Crawford's Quarry area was swallowed up by the Calcite limestone quarry plant. All the graves were removed and reinterred at the Memorial Park cemetery in Rogers City. This is where Sophia and her five children now rest.
