Her family moved From Lexington, KY to Cincinnati, Ohio on April 1930. Her family moved quite a few times before settling at their Symes Street home in 1934. Unfortunately, her father died unexpectedly on February 8, 1939, just three days before her 13th birthday.
She first attended Madisonville Elementary, then switched to Peasle Elementary School on 13th Street. She graduated from Hughes High School on Clifton Ave across from U.C.
During the war effort she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol while working at U.S. Playing Card Plant from December 1, 1943 until December, 1947.
She married Vincent Arszman on November 22, 1947 at St. Margaret Mary Church (then called St. Mary and Margaret Church) in North College Hill, Ohio.
Joyce died on March 26, 1993 at the young age of 67 years old, succumbing to Cancer. She had a mass, performed by Fr. Cross, at St. Margaret Mary Church in North College Hill and had a Christian burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. She was a member of the NCH and Groesbeck Seniors, the Wesley-Werner American Legion Post #513 Ladies Auxiliary and Galley V.F.W. Post #7340 Ladies Auxiliary.
