"James D. O'Hanlon, 80, of Benson. Ariz., died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Ariz., from complications of heart disease.

Jim, the son of Daniel and Mary (Foote) O'Hanlon, Jr., was born July 30, 1929 in the Town of Moreau, Saratoga County, N.Y. He is survived by his son Timothy (Dina) O'Hanlon of Irvine, Calif., daughter Sherry (Russell) Harris of Hannibal, N.Y., grandchildren Gavin Harris, Shaylene Harris and Daniel O'Hanlon, a sister, Anne Gilbert of Westbrook, Maine, and a brother, John O'Hanlon of Tucson, Ariz. He was predeceased by sisters Joyce Wandell and Mary Bogard.

Jim graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1947 and attended Utica Technical Institute in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. The majority of his career was spent working in the plumbing and steamfitting trades in the Glens Falls area, from which he retired in 1989. He was a member of Local 773, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Jim was fond of horses and was the first person to introduce the Appaloosa to northeastern New York. He was a Marksman in the Army and maintained a lifelong hobby of shooting and reloading. He enjoyed the rural life styles of New York, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at 4 p.m., at Richardson's Remembrance Center in Benson. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Fort Edward, N.Y."
